Hand gestures — how they work
Add a letter — form the handshape and hold it still until the ring fills (about half a second).
Finish a word — pause about a second and the dashed word drops into the line. Or tap Space.
Scrap the word — sweep one open hand quickly sideways, like wiping a whiteboard. It clears the dashed word you're still spelling (tap ⌫ to fix just one letter).
Copy — bring both open hands together, like grabbing the text out of the air. Lands on your clipboard (Ctrl/Cmd + V anywhere).
Paste — pull both open hands apart, like setting the text back down.
Delete, Copy and Paste need an open hand — a letter shape won't trigger them.
How to spell
- Spell a word — form each letter and hold it briefly. Letters build up as a dashed word — that's a draft, not saved yet.
- Next letter — just change handshape; no pause needed. Hold each one still for a beat so it's read cleanly.
- Same letter twice (the L's in HELLO) — lower the hand or bounce it, then make it again.
- Save the word — pause about a second and the dashed word drops into the line. Or tap Space.
- Got a junk letter? — no need to be precise: swipe to scrap the whole dashed word and respell it, or tap ⌫ for one letter.
- J and Z — draw the stroke in the air, the same as in Practice.
- Clear — button only; wipes everything.
